The Finnish award-winning movie Le Havre by Aki Kaurismaki will be shown at the Beartooth movietheatre on Monday 13th of February at 7.45 PM.
“In this wry and warmhearted portrait of the French harbor city that gives the film its name, legendary Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki (The Man Without A Past , The Match Factory Girl, Leningrad Cowboys Go America ) pays tribute to the Gallic cinema he loves with a film unlike anything else in the Kaurismäki canon, yet which still feels like it couldn’t have been made by anyone else. Fate throws young African refugee Idrissa (Blondin Miguel) into the path of Marcel Marx (André Wilms), a well-read bohemian who works as a shoe-shiner. With innate optimism and the unwavering support of his community, Marcel stands up to officials doggedly pursuing the boy for deportation. A political fairy tale that exists somewhere between the reality of contemporary France and the classic cinema of Jean-Pierre Melville and Marcel Carné, Le Havre is a charming, deadpan delight.”
